What Is a Circuit Breaker? Home Electrical Safety Explained

A circuit breaker is an automatic electrical switch installed in your home's service panel (breaker box) that interrupts the flow of electricity when it detects unsafe conditions — typically overcurrent (too much amperage), short circuits, or ground faults.
